The Netball Committee held a coordination meeting at its headquarters with representatives from netball clubs and academies, as well as coaches and members of the wider netball community, to discuss the next phase of development and plans to strengthen and organise the sport across the UAE.
During the meeting, the Committee presented its vision for building an integrated netball structure encompassing national teams, youth age groups, and the UAE Netball League, alongside the development of coaches and officials and the enhancement of governance, safety, and player protection standards.
The Committee also reviewed initial plans to launch the UAE Netball League, which is expected to become a key platform for developing domestic competition, identifying talent, and supporting the selection pathway for national team players. Discussions also covered the geographical distribution of competitions and ways to facilitate participation by players and teams from across the Emirates.
The meeting addressed plans to further develop the national team, Future Falcons programmes, and various youth age groups. It also explored opportunities to broaden participation by introducing new age categories, men’s and mixed teams, and increasing the involvement of schools in promoting and developing the sport.
The Committee highlighted the importance of strengthening technical expertise through training and development programmes for coaches and officials, while benefiting from international expertise and programmes. Enhancing safety standards, first aid provision, and participant protection across competitions and activities was also discussed.
In addition, the meeting explored the development of a registration system and central database, as well as plans for an electronic portal to streamline the registration of clubs, teams, players, coaches, and officials and strengthen communication across the UAE netball community.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Committee emphasised the importance of collaboration, transparency, and constructive exchange of ideas and feedback, confirming that the next phase will feature further initiatives and programmes aimed at raising the standard of netball, expanding participation, and strengthening the UAE’s presence on the international netball stage.
